María José brings a rare combination to energy law: the analytical rigor of an economist and the regulatory depth of a lawyer.
She brings over five years of experience in policy analysis and monitoring within Colombia's mining and energy sector. She previously served as an advisor to the Colombian Deputy Attorney General's Office for Environmental and Energy Affairs — the country's primary oversight body for energy sector compliance — where she led preventive oversight of Colombia's energy transition policy and contributed to the analysis of regulatory and legislative proposals affecting the sector.
She has designed and managed high-level engagement forums with government agencies and industry associations, building bridges between public institutions and private sector actors on some of Colombia's most complex energy and environmental challenges.
She is currently pursuing a Master's in Mining and Energy Regulation at Universidad Externado de Colombia.
