Mateo is a law student at Universidad Externado de Colombia, with solid grounding in commercial, civil, and labor law and a keen interest in legal reasoning, regulatory analysis, and dispute resolution.

Beyond the classroom, he has participated in the Civil Procedure Law seminar and contributed to the Criminal Law research group, sharpening his analytical and argumentation skills. He also brings hands-on experience in labor law from his time at Sánchez Acero y Asociados S.A.S., where he supported legal analysis and case management.

His academic focus spans International Law, Criminal Law and Transitional Justice, International Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution, and — most relevant to his work at Viable — Mining and Energy Law, Gas, and Energy Transition
